I need help!

I am having the hardest time finding the perfect canisters for my kitchen, so this where you come in. I need some suggestions. I am adding a few photos of my kitchen, so you can see my style. I love the white subway tiles on my backsplash, so I was thinking of something with white, but I am open to anything really except, I DO NOT WANT anything stainless steal on it. That is what I currently have and have the hardest time keeping them clean. I also have a Pale Blue walls in the kitchen and remember I just recieved my Pistashio colored KitchenAid mixer. I also love shabby chic looks.

I would be totally grateful for anyone's suggestions! Thanks!

This picture is actually a picture for you to see the wall color, but it also for you to see the Yummy Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies I made with my new mixer.
(Love the child lock on the pantry???)

These are the current cansiters I have and loath! But you see anything would really look great here.

Thanks for your help! Can't wait to see what some of you come up with!

Home Sweet Home

This is where I grew up. I miss it dearly and am very thankful my husband allows me to go home(aka:my parents Florida Home) for a month and get to spend time with our family and friends.
I only have less then 2 months until I get to be in this beautiful place that makes me so happy.
Here are some photos so you can see how much I miss this place and cherish the moments we are lucky enough to be there.
(Side note: we will be home one day and plan on retiring there.)

Casino Beach, the whitest sands you will ever set your feet on.

Gulf Breeze, Florida, this is the town my husband and I grew up in.

Oh the beauty...

Anniversary gifts*

That sweet man got me this:

The Legendary KitchenAid Stand Mixer (that is really what it is called) in the color I wanted, Pistachio!

Oh how happy this made me. I have been creating all my cakes, by hand and my old fashion hand mixer!

So, ask me what I got him??? Ok, well nothing technically nothing because the gift that he wanted was just for us to go to Royals baseball game. I was totally for it, as long has he planned it and got the tickets and I figured out the babysitter thing.

Well, we wanted to make it a group thing with a bunch of our close friends and they offer half price tickets for all military on Friday, but you can only buy the tickets in person. We not thinking it was going to be SOLD OUT, he and his friend decide we will buy the tickets once we get there.

Everything seems perfect, a plan is in place, babysitter, ride, DD, and friends. We drove the hour drive to KC, wait another hour in a line to park, has soon as we are at the gates, a man walks up to the car, and says they were SOLD OUT! Perfect!

So, now what? The closest thing and our only alternative...Take them to Hooters! Oh, yes, Happy Anniversary Ben! To this wonderful man, this was perfectly fine. A cold beer, a big flat screen TV to watch the game(that we were suppose to be sitting at), hot wings, and friends, this was perfect!

"B"

The other day after I picked up Blakely from school, her teachers started asking me a few questions about how often we work with Blakely on her ABC's and 123's. I told him that we worked with her, but should probably be working with her more often, fearing they might tell me she was slow or something(I know, why? Who cares? She's 2!). Then they tell me that the past 2 weeks she has been writing 'B's and they thought she was SO smart. Relieved, I was like, "OH, she always wants to draw her name, so we spell it out all the time." "Her Daddy works with her alot!"

Not thinking much about it, Saturday morning after breakfast, I told Blakely to go into her playroom and play while we cleaned up the kitchen. 10 minutes after being in there, I hear her say, "Mommy, Daddy, I draw B!" I walked in her playroom and this is what I saw.

See the "B"?

I was so SHOCKED, I cried! She was so proud!

Sorry about the flash....but you see all 3 of them? She pointed and counted all the "B's" to us. I know I sound like one of those mom's but what can I say, I AM PROUD!

Earth Day

In honor of Earth Day, I promise to...

* not run my dish washer today, because my husband is usually the one to do it and since he just emptied it, it will not have to be ran.

*walk to Walmart if I have to go, which is almost everyday since there is NO WHERE else to go in this town!

*not cook dinner to help save energy, left over it is...

*wear the same clothes I wore yesterday and same goes to Lil B and Ben.(that should help something right?) ;)

*not blow dry my hair, therefore scaring the town of The Burg.

*i will not buy flowers today, i will go pick them from my neighbors yard.

*not going out for lunch today and just making a cold cut sandwich from home.

*will plant more flowers, right after I drive to Lowes and get more gardening soil!

What will you do today???

A Small Defeat!

I don't know about y'all, but to me, spring cleaning feels like it may continue into the summer. I am trying to do little things around the house that I have neglected this winter and today I decided to tackle under MY sink! I don't know about y'all, but I stopped even looking under there and would just quickly grab what I needed, then shut the door as fast as I could.

Please let me know that your sink looks like this too?
BEFORE

AFTER

This is what a quick trip to TJMaxx can do for under your sink and the baskets were only $5.99 a piece, you just can't beat that!

Project Complete!

I have been working on this dresser I picked up at a Antique Shop{for the guest bedroom} and finally completed it today! It turned out great, I do still have to fix the drawers because they stick when trying to open them.

When I was searching for a piece, I was looking for something with 'good bones' and not actually looking at the exterior because I knew I was going to refinish it. I was also looking for something small enough to fit in the guest room. This piece was perfect and as soon as I saw it, I snatched the tag off and went straight to the register to take her home with me!

I sanded the whole thing(love my electric sander!), primed it, painted it, and aged it(again).

Just look at what you can do for $80 bucks!

I added some crystal knobs to add a little bit of a vintage look.

I wasn't going to do the mirror that came with it, but I thought why not put it back on until I found the perfect mirror for the room.

See the 'good bones'? No...well I know it is hard because this thing had a ugly stain finish!

Isn't it amazing what a little patiences, sanding, paint, and patiences can do!

Mirrored Tables

I am loving these lately! I am defiantly going to have one of these one day, but not sure where I will put it. I think Blakely's big girl room may to the place!

Bring out the white pants!

SPRING time is here! Although it is still 50 degrees here, but that is what they(the locals) call spring here. Anyway, this just means that it is project time for me! Lots of big and small projects to do! I have been antiquing lately looking for pieces that I can refurbish and bring back to life. We are in need of some furniture for our spare bedroom.

Some easy projects for people to do is to add a new look to your home by just changing out some photos, add some springy pictures, a wall of frames, or a wall of plates! I love this idea and will be doing it with a friend in a few days!

I am currently helping a friend redo a few things for her house and add some 'new' life into pieces she already has! We are going to stain some of her furnishings in her home that she has had for a while and they just need a little 'pick me up'. Can't wait to see the finished project and I will post some before and after photos once we are finished.

Another idea is to add Chalk Paint! It can be added to just about any room in your home, but I prefer the kitchen. They now even have Colored Chalk Board Paint. What a need way to add something useful and fun to a room. This is a really great idea for people with children. I think I might be taking this project on myself, but I am still trying to figure out where to add it. I'll let you know what I decide.

Go out there and get inspired and let me know what you come up with! I love would love to see your before and after pictures of projects that you do!

Wish List Wednesday
