Dreaming of being a Princess

'I see monkey's!"

For weeks now Blakely has been wanting to go to The Zoo! Every morning, without missing a bet, for weeks now, she wakes up and says, "I see monkey's?" We were suppose to go with her cousin Campbell when they got here, but there was some many things going on it didn't work out. So we took our Funday Sunday and traveled to Kansas City and went to the zoo!

She had a wonderful time and was excited about seeing the monkeys, hippos, giraffes, loins, and crocs!

This is such a fun age!

Family in Missouri!

We had some family come to Missouri, again! Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think my cousin, Christopher and his wife, Beth would make their way to the 'shw me state', but they did(a friend was getting married) and we met them from Dinner in Kansas City!

What a wonderful treat! Plus, Beth is 14 weeks pregnant and it was great seeing her little baby bump!

Brazilian Blowout!

Ok, this is a serious blog! I have some of the ugliest hair. . .

This is not a joke. I have struggled with my hair, which is wavy, thin, and frizzy. I spent at least 20 minutes straighten my hair everyday, this may not seem like along time to some of you, but I have VERY short hair and that 20 minutes does not include me flat ironing it after I have blown it dry with a round brush to straighten it.

I have been hearing about this method called Brazilian Blowout. It is a straightening method that will not damage your hair! Celebrities are raving about it and after reading several articles about it, I thought I would give it a try! It cost anywhere between $150 to $300, depending on where you get it done.

So anyone that may struggle with wavy, curly, unruly hair, check this out!

I will let you know next week how I like it!

recital, kinda...

Lil B has a few friends that are having their first dance recital{they are all 3 and under, so they have their recitals during the day},so we thought we would be supportive and go and watch!
Plus, I thought Blakely's would enjoy it, since she starts ballet soon.
We got ready, did our nails, our hair, and I let Lil B pick out her outfit{ofcourse I gave her chooses}.
Once we were on the road I text the mommy's and said we were on the way.
Well, they changed it(in my head) to tomorrow. ok, ok, so I put it wrong in my calendar, but I did know something was today! We are going to the 'big' girl recital tonight at 7pm to see some more of our friends daughters that are in the recital.

So, since we were all dressed up, I took some new pictures of a 2 year old Princess!
She is getting so big! Oh, and breathtakingly beautiful!

Montserrat Vineyard

when i say the word, "winery", you probably think California, right???
well believe it or not, Missouri is also know for some of the most beautiful winery's & vineyards... i know crazy, right?
we had our last Spouses meetings before summer break, so we decided to host it at the Montserrat Vineyard. i hadn't been to any winery's since living here and honestly I thought, there is no way there could be some beautiful winery in Missouri; therefore, not making it a priority to see or experience it.
Boy! Was I wrong! please forgive me for prejudging...
just look for yourself. it was breathtaking, relaxing, and beautiful.
not to mention some amazing wines!

thanks for the girls that came. . .i know it was a small gathering with school getting out, vacations started, and hubby's flying, but we had a wonderful time and hope to see you all at the August meeting!

Art Display using Old Frames

Another great idea, especially for mommies and daddies with children. This is a great way to display all that art work your children bring home from school!
I got this idea out of my Family Fun magazine.
Check out how I added some personalization to Blakely's playroom and a way for me to switch out with all the wonderful 'art' she brings home.

i picked up these 5 frames at a antique store totalling $11. I primed and sprayed them white. You can use any color to coordinate with your room.

after letting them dry, I arranged them several different ways on the floor to see which way I preferred them, then took a picture, so I could place them exactly how I wanted them on the wall.

the things you will need to complete the project. I picked up those fantasy clips you see there at Walmart! They have other colors as well.

And whoooo hoooo....there you have it, the finished project!

and this is what it looks like in the 'big' picture! a tornado went off in her playroom and she didn't do it. and, yes she is only wearing a shirt, your eyes are not lying. . .

Dining Room Table Redo!

before:

after:

so, you maybe asking yourself, W H Y, I did this. . .
a few reasons:
1. i want a new dining room set(this one is too small for this room), and i was secretly hoping this project would fail and we could get a new one.

2. i have done just about all my craft projects on this table and the top of it was showing years of wear and tare.
3. i thought the table looked lost in dining room b/c it blended in with my hard wood floors.
how do you think it turned out?
i am going to re-upholstery the chairs...what fabric do you think would look best??? i have a few chooses in mind, i think i will have a poll and choice the most popular one!
Check back soon for some opinions. I would be totally up for some suggestions if anyone has any!

Table Setting Inspiration & my 'pieces'

I have been following these 2 blogs {This Young House & Bower Power} by these wonderful, funny, amusing, fun girls. They started off as bloggy friends and eventually turned their love for fabulous deals, good humor, and conscious living into a beautiful friendship. They came together at Bower Power's house and made this humorous video, that inspired me to come up with a beautiful table setting. With a few pieces I picked up from my antique shopping trip, here is what I came up with. I had to go with the 4 people table setting because we do have a family to place at the table, but they had some wonderful ideas and I can't wait to try out some other ones.

Here's the crystal vase I picked up.

I planted a few plants in my finds and placed them around the house. Kitchen plant:

I also forgot to post a picture of these 4 old books I picked up for $2. This is the milk white planter I got for $2 as well:

See accessorising your house doesn't have to be expensive, you just have to use your imagination.

Hmmm. . .It's cute.

I was checking my email last night after dinner and Blakely was sitting next to me watching Dora before heading to take a bath. I pulled up this from my sister-in-law:
This is how the convo went:
Blakely: "Wha's tha?"
Me: "It's a platter Campbell made for Aunt Whitney for Mother's Day."
Blakely: "hmmm. . .it's cute..." -this was said with a almost sarcastic tone.
The things kid say and do...I will never understand what is totally going through their heads, but I will ALWAYS highly enjoy listen or watching!

My Mother's Day meal. . .

this is my mother's day dinner, my sweet hubby made me. mexican beer marinated chicken burritos with fresh guacamole. i know grilled asparagus seems weird to eat with a mexican dish, but i have a new found love for these grilled long blackened green things...
for those of you who know Ben, you know that he is not a cook, so this was wonderful to sit back and have him cook the entire meal.

doesn't it look yummy...

he even made the fresh guacamole.

this is my perfect night. . .
